Evidences have shown the serious consequences of corruption on economic growth and capital formation which impact long term sustainability of development. In the short term, corruption may appear to have benefits to an economy and its development, but this misappropriation of finance and government resources are hostile to long term sustainable development; there is a negative relationship between corruption and the long-term rate of economic growth - see picture on the left.

Welfare
Evidences have also shown the serious underlying consequences of corruption on poverty and inequality. Vote-buying is the origin of evil politicians. It causes corrupted policies which will be implemented in the society. Non-transparent allocation of public money might happen. When corrupted policies are implemented, benefit that people should fully received from non-corrupted policies have disappeared because of corrupted policies.

Corrupted politicians due to vote-buying, they tend to take out budget for their own sake rather than contributing it to the society, thus people tend to get less than what they should have got, especially in high corrupted countries. We can see that vote-buying is the origin of all evil which bring exploited policies to the countries. Social Indicators shown serious problems occurred to lives and health of people in the countries. Social Indicators such as child mortality rate, infant mortality rate, percent of low-birth weight babies and school drop-out rates are worse where corruption is high. This is applicable to all countries including Thailand where vote-buying is still going on.
